Junglecock feather - about 15-20 cmThe grey jugnlecock or Sonnerat junglecock, by the name of the french naturalist who bring the first observations of it, is a bird that comes from India. It's quite common in the wild and it's often breeded for ornamental gardens. It's easily tamed. Its plumage is quite specific for a gallinaceous as the feathers of the mating period have a flat and shining rachis, that can form plates at the end of the feather, giving the impression that the bird is sequined. Here is a feather from the end of the mantle, that presents warm brown and caramel colors.
